2011 So Far..

I'm going to start by saying 2011 has been slightly challenging for us thus far but I'm hopefully optimistic about the rest of the year. It really started on 1 Jan 2011, we had a sick puppy dog for a week. He had accidents in his kennel 2x a day for the first seven of the year. We think he got into something in the compost which made his tummy upset. This was very trying for us because we didn't understand what was going on. It was very hard to wake up and come home to a house smelling of dog poo. When we finally got over our puppy troubles, we learned that Nicks grandmother had lost her battle with Lukemia. It was very hard for all of us to deal with, especially Nick. The very next weekend, I learned that my high school friend Amanda had also lost her battle with cancer. I also had a miscarriage that same weekend that Amanda died. So, in short, January just plain sucked emotionally.

February, was much better than January by miles. We took our two dogs on their very first 5k. My goal this year is to complete at least one 5k per month for the entire year. I ran with Louie (1 yr old boxer) and Nick ran with Nita (4 yr old Husky). Lets just say we'll be switching dogs for our next run. Louie dragged me the whole way and Nita could barely keep up with Nick by the time they finished. We had a great day during the 5k and learned that our dogs just plain love to run. We went out for dinner to Marazano's for our second anniversary and it was fun. We didn't do much for Valentines day. I'm currently saving up for another car because the Focus took a turn for the worse in December and it wasn't worth fixing in my eyes. My Godson, Dylan's birthday is tomorrow and he'll be 3! He's such a big boy and I'm so glad that we can be near each other in the early years. Even though God has been testing my faith this year, I know that he is filling my life with blessing untold. Looking forward to everything to come in March.

2010 In Review

So, here we are in 2011. I am a firm believer that you cannot know where you are headed until you reflect on where you have come from. Refelction is something that I am trying to get better about since I tend to live day by day and not really consider the past so I'm trying to get in the habit of reflecting on where I have been so I can change my future.

2010 was full of fun and laughter and a few rough spots. The year started out with mine and Nick's 1 year anniversary which we spent at home together. Also in this time frame, my best friend left to Guam with her family. It was a very sad time but we made it through. Skype is an absolute blessing because we could video chat with each other for FREE!! The next few months progressed with working and school. In May, Nick met my parents for the very first time. I was awarded my CCAF in Electronic Systems Technology and my parents came up for the ceremony. During the time they were here we were able to get my Aunt and my Mom together for Mother's Day! It was awesome, we spent the day in Seattle and on my cousin's boat. In June, Nick and I went to Montana for his brothers high school graduation where I got to meet his family for the very first time. It was a wonderful two weeks and I have fallen in love with Montana. In July, Nick's parent's came to Washington and we were able to spend a wonderful few days with them. We went on the Tillicum Dinner Cruise and had an awesome time. Seattle is so beautiful at sunset, but boy was the ride cold.

In June my best friend decided that she would leave Guam and her husband. She and her two sons (my God sons) came to stay with Nick and I. It was a very long road, and it wasn't without our ups and downs but I didn't offer my home up for me, I did it to help out my best friend in her time of need. We have come out from that time and we are stronger than ever. You couldn't have picked two people more opposite to be best friends. In October she moved out and moved on.

In November, Nick and I traveled to Texas to spend Thanksgiving with my family. During the week we were there, Nick got my dad's permission to marry me. We also hit record breaking warm weather while we were there. Let's just say that the two Northerners weren't able to handle the San Antonio heat. We had a great time and loved the time we spent with my family. The year finished out with Christmas and New Years. We spent Christmas eve with some of my extended family. Christmas day was filled with presents and relaxation. We had a great time spending our days off together. We spent New Year's eve with our friends the Albers.

Overall, we had a great year with some trying times but we came out of the struggle tougher than before. Nick and I know that through anything we can tackle whatever struggles or troubles come our way. Happy New year, we hope that your year is filled with much joy and happiness.
